Core Rare Magic card list

Rare Magic cards are listed from the canonical source text. Each row has a stable HTML ID for direct linking, citation, and rules-reference use.

Rare Magic Component ID Magic Form Quantity Details Printed description Manual clarification
Scroll of Mystic Missile CORE_SCROLL_OF_MYSTIC_MISSILE CONSUMABLE 1 Consumable Loot. Combat Turn: Deal 1d4+Intellect Damage. Free Action. Discard. Choose one Combatant in the current Combat Encounter. This does not require a Check and is not an Attack, Attack Check, Combat Action, or Weapon Damage. The Player using this card is the Damage Dealer. If it causes Death, the Death Source is a Loot effect.
The Phylactery CORE_THE_PHYLACTERY CONSUMABLE 1 Consumable Loot. Before Death: Health 1. Disengage for 0 Kaos. Hidden. Discard. Use when an effect would reduce your Health to 0 or lower. Death is not triggered. If you are in Combat, Disengage without paying Kaos. If the effect was not during Combat, ignore Disengage. If this occurs during your Player Turn or Combat Turn, that Turn ends.
The Helm of Sight CORE_HELM_OF_SIGHT ARMOR 1 Armor Slot: HEAD. Defense Bonus: +2. See Hidden Players in your Room. Defense +2. While this Armor is Equipped, Hidden Players in your Room are legal targets for your effects that target Players in your Room.
The Neckromancer's Robes CORE_NECKROMANCERS_ROBES ARMOR 1 Armor Slot: TORSO. Defense Bonus: +2. Use Intellect or Charm for Brawn or Quickness Checks. While this Armor is equipped, when you make a Brawn Check or Quickness Check, you may use your current Intellect or current Charm instead. Choose which Stat to use before rolling. The Check remains its original Check type for all other rules. For example, a Melee Attack Check is still a Melee Attack Check even if you use Intellect or Charm for the roll. The substituted Stat is not added to Damage.
The Sword Named Bill CORE_THE_SWORD_NAMED_BILL WEAPON 1 Weapon Mode: MELEE. Weapon Slot: MELEE. Damage Die: d8. Stat: BRAWN. Stat Bonus: +2. Brawn +2. 1d8 Damage. Gain +2 Brawn while this Weapon is Equipped. This Weapon is available for Melee Attacks while Equipped.
The Hobow CORE_THE_HOBOW WEAPON 1 Weapon Mode: RANGED. Weapon Slot: RANGED. Damage Die: d10. Defense Bonus: +2. Defense +2. 1d10 Damage. Gain +2 Defense while this Weapon is Equipped. This Weapon is available for Ranged Attacks and Take A Shot while Equipped.
The Turtle Idol of Defense CORE_IDOL_OF_DEFENSE OTHER 1 Backpack effect. Defense Bonus: +2 while Stored in Backpack. Backpack: Defense +2. While this card is Stored in your Backpack, it grants +2 Defense. If this card is not Stored in your Backpack, it does not grant this Defense bonus.
The Dragon Idol of Striking CORE_IDOL_STRIKING OTHER 1 Backpack effect. Melee Attack Checks and Ranged Attack Checks +2 while Stored in Backpack. Backpack: Attack Checks +2. While this card is Stored in your Backpack, add +2 to your Melee Attack Checks and Ranged Attack Checks. It does not apply to Combat Order Checks, Contested Checks, Random Encounter Checks, or Take A Shot unless another rule specifically states otherwise.
The Werebear Idol of Reaving CORE_IDOL_OF_DAMAGE OTHER 1 Backpack effect. Damage dealt +2 while Stored in Backpack. Backpack: Damage you deal +2. While this card is Stored in your Backpack, add +2 when you are the Damage Dealer. This includes Damage you deal with Attacks, Take A Shot, Loot, or other effects. Do not add this bonus to Damage rolled against you. Rolling Damage dice for another Player's non-Combat Damage does not make you the Damage Dealer.
The Sprite Idol of Haste CORE_IDOL_OF_HASTE OTHER 1 Backpack effect. Move Action may move 1 or 2 connected Rooms while Stored in Backpack. Backpack: Move up to 2 Rooms with one Move Action. While this card is Stored in your Backpack, when you take the Move Action, you may choose to move 1 or 2 connected Rooms. Make only one Perception Check after movement. Use the final Room entered for Move Action effects.
